INSTALLATION

Preparation:

1. Remove all weeds and debris from area to be sodded.

2. Loosen top soil to a depth of 4" to 6" with a spade or rototiller. In most cases you may need to add some type of soil conditioner to your soil. If top soil is brought in, use a minimum of 3 inches.

3. Using a rake, smooth and grade all surfaces to be sodded. We recommend an automatic sprinkler irrigation system for your new lawn. Soil should be 1" below mowing strips, sidewalks, driveways, and patios to accommodate for sod thickness. Using a lawn roller, roll the area lightly for a smooth surface.

4. Water your soil area to be sodded, (especially in the summer months) to a depth of 6", two days prior to sod installation. Just before sod is installed, scatter a preplant fertilizer on the soil by hand or with a spreader.

Installation:

1. INSTALL SOD IMMEDIATELY UPON DELIVERY. When laying sod, stagger end seams as in bricklaying, butt joints tightly, do not overlap edges. Once sod has been laid, roll lightly with a half filled lawn roller. Rolling will make a better contact between the sod and the soil. Try to stay off the lawn area for two weeks.

Watering:

1. WATERING IS CRITICAL FOR THE START OF YOUR NEW INSTANT LAWN. For the first ten days, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER let the sod dry out! A deep watering of 6" should be done right after installation. Keep sod and soil very moist and spongy, do not create puddles. Hot and windy days can dry the sod very rapidly. To keep the sod moist when the weather is hot and/or windy, you may need to water for 10 to 20 minutes with a sprinkler irrigation system at regular intervals throughout the day. Avoid watering after 5 p.m. if at all possible.
